At the core of the 21st edition will be its range of specialised product zones featuring exhibitors across several key sectors such as new energy and energy efficiency, air quality, water treatment and quality management, circular economy and waste management, green building technology and services, green finance and ESG-related services, green and smart mobility, eco-friendly products and start-up zones.
Green mobility fuelling a sustainable revolution
One of the key highlights of this year’s expo is the focus on new energy, featuring exhibitor showcases of the latest clean solutions in transportation. This focus is reflective of a broader trend. In recent years, the Chinese Mainland has been driving the rapid growth of green development, with the EV sector scaling in parallel to align with the country’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions per unit of GDP by 17% from 2025 levels by 2030. [1] This drive to meet sustainability goals has accelerated consumer and commercial adoption of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), with domestic sales exceeding 16 million units in 2025, capturing over half of the new-car market. [2] To sustain this rapid transition towards new energy transport, infrastructure deployment has scaled in parallel, with charging networks expanding to 21.96 million active facilities as of April 2026. [3] Likewise, Hong Kong’s “Green Transformation Roadmap of Public Buses and Taxis” plans to subsidise purchasing 600 electric buses and 3,000 electric taxis as part of wider efforts to promote green transport and cut transport-related emissions.
Government backed global presence
Moving forward, the 2026 edition continues to connect new and returning audiences by offering extensive B2G, B2B, and B2C opportunities. Strongly supported by governments and industry associations, the fair is well positioned to advance sustainability goals and drive commercial growth across the green supply chain.
Last year’s event attracted some 340 exhibitors from across 13 countries and regions and over 11,000 buyers from 118 countries and regions, 17 pavilions, and around 200 key officials from around the world. In addition, the Hong Kong SAR Government also invited quasi-governmental representatives and officials from Belt and Road nations, such as Cambodia, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka.
Ultimately, the fair continues to serve as a premier global showcase and a key hub for cross-border cooperation in Hong Kong, opening the door for partnerships between private enterprises and the state. During the 20th edition, exhibitor Lihe Technology signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with both the Republican State Enterprise “Kazhydromet” and Kazakhstan's Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control (CERC), further reflecting a deepening institutionalisation of China–Kazakhstan environmental cooperation, marking a significant milestone for the Expo.
Beyond these formal agreements, feedback from last year’s attendees highlight the value of the fair’s strong international presence. This diverse turnout reinforces Hong Kong’s role in connecting the Chinese Mainland with global markets:
Mr Qu Fu, Executive Vice President, Infore Enviro highlighted the exhibition’s strength as a networking hub, noting: “At the fair, we successively engaged with over 35 government representatives from various places, including, Hong Kong, the UAE, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines etc. Through this exhibition, we expect the annual overseas revenue growth rate to exceed 200%.”
Mr Haiyang Zhang of China Everbright Environment Group Limited followed up by affirming the strategic value of the location, stating: “Hong Kong is a vital international gateway and a powerful growth driver. Leveraging this strategic location allows us to showcase our products and attract global customers, serving as the perfect window to the world.”
Eco Expo Asia 2026 will take place from 26 – 29 October 2026 at AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong. The “Click2Match” online platform, running from 19 October – 5 November 2026, will extend the show’s reach by enabling online business meetings and partnerships, ensuring broader participation and fostering meaningful global connections.
The show is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and co-organised by the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
